On Thursday 27 March 2025, SINRMAS in partnership with the Nkomazi Local Municipality and with the generous and firm financial support from the Energy & Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EW SETA), officially kick-started Year 2 of Phase I of our Electro-AquaWise Skills for Youth (EASY) training flagship.
The EASY programme is SINRMAS’ ambitious goal to train and/or successfully place 1 000 young artisans in different fields within the energy and water sectors of the economy by the year 2033. Phase I is envisaged to last 5 years that spans the period 2023 to 2028 mainly focused on training provision while Phase II, envisaged to start in 2029, will focus on placement of the best of our trainees with leading local and global companies and universities for further development before they return back to play critical roles in South Africa’s local government municipalities.
In Year 2, 50 learners have been recruited in Nkomazi Local Municipality and are in the process of being officially enrolled into the programme after they have successfully gone through an induction programme held at KaMhlushwa Community Hall. The new recruits will be trained on Occupational Certificate: Water Process Control NQF Level III.
The EASY programme is headed by Ms. Mahlatse Moloto whose wealth of training and skills development experience and expertise covers more than 15 years of training management and administration of programmes like The War on Leaks under Rand Water and various projects at Training Manager for Mahube Training Institute in Limpopo; Gauteng; KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa.
Year 2 of the programme will also be implemented in partnership with our social partners Thembalethu Nkomazi and Thembelihle Community Organization both of whom are reputable community organizations with an intractable track record of serving the communities on Nkomazi. These two partners will, among other roles, host the two classes that the learners will be split into.
